The entire month of June is full with the energy of confusion and illumination as our focus shifts from our outer to our inner worlds. Mercury continues in retrograde motion until the 19th. Jupiter is moving in retrograde motion until Sept 7, 2008. Neptune is retrograde until Nov 1, and Pluto is retrograde until Sept 8. The best way to handle this uncertainty is to be willing to adapt to events as they unfold. The beginning of a change such as this might well be learning to express yourself in a better way. As the way we approach others slowly changes, the results we experience shift accordingly, and ultimately become more satisfying.

With four (4!) planets moving retrograde this month, let's discuss what all this means. Retrograde periods occur when planets appear to be moving backward in the sky as seen from Earth, even though in reality they're moving forward in their regular orbital patterns around the Sun When a planet is retrograde circumstances, events and issues in your life can be difficult at times, because you're forced to go back over matters that have already been covered.

However, during this period you may begin to discern information from a different viewpoint, perceiving new patterns of thought and reality and processing them at first unconsciously, then consciously. Thus, you begin to understand that established issues and matters can be viewed in many ways, and you begin to feel it necessary to make decisions about what is best for you in the here and now. What emerges from this reassessment is an altered and more creative perception of your world as you fix what is broken and get in touch with your inner self. Mercury in Gemini adds lightness to the atmosphere and makes friendships happier and secure.

Neptune is one of the planets going Retrograde. It remains in each sign about 14 years and is retrograde 5-6 months each year. Neptune symbolizes idealism, mysticism and inspiration. It represents your capacity to envision the future. Illusions are swept away and replaced by new. This can bring about some confusion and temporarily decrease your ability to make good judgments. However, this is a good time to turn to expressions of artistic creativity, to pursue opportunities to help others, to explore spiritual matters without judgment or criticism.

The Full Moon occurs on the 18th at 10:30am at 27°50'Sagittarius. This Full Moon occurs in the midst of some unusual atmosphere as it gives us an opportunity to align more closely with our personal navitation system. The New Moon occurs on the 3rd at 12:23pm at 13°34' Gemini. A New Moon begins a whole new cycle for you and will affect the area of your life where this New Moon energy lands in your personal chart. (One little sidenote: Uranus begins to move retrograde on June 27-November 27. Stick with the tried and true through June. )

About Astrology

Astrology has been practiced by man for thousands of years; it is one of the world's oldest religions. 'What is your Sun sign?" Is one of the most commonly asked questions between two people who are trying to get to know each other. Astrology fascinates people. For over 9,000 years man has looked to the heavens for insight into his troubles and for meaning in his life.

As civilizations evolved and the body of knowledge grew, the earliest astrologers kept meticulous calendars and more complete records of celestial movements. The most convenient way to study the stars was by connecting their groupings into recognizable patterns we now call constellations. The sky was thus divided into twelve segments each one represented by its own constellation.

It was also noted that the visible planets often appeared to wander through the sky against this backdrop of constellations. These planets eventually acquired personalities and mythologies of their own, and astrologers soon began to affix significance to the position of these planets against certain constellations in the sky. The night sky was a grand soap-opera, where gods and goddesses played out their dramas and the consequences were manifested on earth through droughts, floods and a host of natural occurrences.

There is not much in the heavens that is not cyclical - happening over and over. Astrology is the study and charting of these planetary cycles and cosmic events as they are reflected here on our earthly plane.

Early Philosophers and Astronomers discovered that all major cosmic events are interactive; that is, cosmic events millions of miles away from planet Earth represent an activity that takes place within ourself, our consciousness and in our outward daily life!! It is this repeating pattern that enables us to recognize heavenly events.

Astrology deals with ten planets. Eight of these are the sister planets of the Earth: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus Neptune, and Pluto. The other two are the Sun and the Moon, neither of which is a planet. (A planet circles the Sun.) However, as seen from the earth, the Sun and Moon follow the same path as the planets. Astrologers, interested in the relationships between the positions of ALL ten objects, simply call them the Ten Planets.

The movements and the cycles of planets as they rotate in their designated, patterned orbits act as a huge cosmic clock that ticks off the time and events, past, present and future. The path followed by the ten planets is called the ecliptic. The patterns that are revealed in the rhythmic motions of the planets seem to shed light on the helter skelter of our everyday lives.
